
KaliYoga Class Descriptions
ASHTANGA
Often referred to as "Power Yoga." Ashtanga Yoga is a fluid sequence of
yoga postures and breath. This vigorous form of Hatha Yoga increases
flexibility, strength, balance and concentration. Come learn a
beautiful form of meditation in motion. Be prepared to sweat and work
hard. Previous yoga experience recommended.
GENTLE AND GENTLE/MODERATE HATHA YOGA
An ideal class for those new to Yoga, recovering from injury, living with arthritis, or just looking for a gentle workout. Develop balance, strength, flexibility, and breath control with this alignment-based class. Objects such as blocks, chairs, blankets and belts are used to help students to adjust themselves into different asanas. Props enable students to work in a range of motion that is safe and help to effectively align the body. This class is appropriate for all bodies and all body types. For all levels including beginners.
MODERATE HATHA
An alignment and core building class for those wishing to strengthening their practice, and to help support and deepen postures and breath. Objects such as blocks, chairs, blankets and belts are used
to help students to adjust themselves into different asanas. The body of the class is well rounded and includes a different focus of attention each week. For all levels including beginners.
VINYASA FLOW
A dynamic sequence of postures, asanas, linked by breath and movement. Sun Salutations provides the framework to develop strength, flexibility balance and endurance. Class is designed for a stronger more vigorous yoga, prior experience is helpful. Each person is encouraged to work in their own level and be prepared to move and sweat.
VINYASA SOFT FLOW is a stepping-stone between our Moderate Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga Classes. This class focuses on breath awareness, balance, alignment and strengthening, all within a slow and graceful flow of asana. For all levels including beginners. Class is slightly heated.
PIYO - PILATES YOGA BLEND - ALL LEVELS
Pilates was developed as a logical system of exercise specifically designed to enhance and balance the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of the human body. This class emphasizes the similarities between the Pilates system and Yoga. Yoga postures are combined with Pilates movements and core work. In class we will move from subtle to gross movement ina journey of exploration. This class will help to develop core strength, flexibility, alignment, and balance. Non-impact, low resistance, and gentle on the joints, this blend helps you both avoid injury and rehabilitate from current injuries.
RESTORATIVE yoga allows you to experience the ease that underlies a more active yoga practice and can be benefited by anyone. Gentle, calming, and therapeutic, restorative yoga uses supportive props and gives emphasis on being able to release deeply held tension to allow for total relaxation in every pose. This healing yoga style is a favorite for anyone suffering injuries, dealing with high stress, or during major life transitions.
